Energy Star Partner
ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. The ENERGY STAR Label is applicable to electronic equipment, appliances, HVAC equipment, as well as (14) building types such as office buildings, medical buildings, schools ,etc. that meet or exceed the EPA standards for energy efficiency.
EPA recognizes top performing buildings with the ENERGY STAR Label. Buildings are benchmarked for energy use against similar buildings nationwide on a scale of 1-100. A rating of 75 or higher is required for a building to earn an ENERGY STAR Label and means the building is performing better than 75% of similar buildings. The ENERGY STAR Label is dated for the year issued. If a building maintains a rating of 75 or higher, the Label may be reapplied for every 12 months if desired.
As an ENERGY STAR Partner, Premier Power Solutions (PPS) can provide the following services for commercial, government, school and medical buildings:
PPS will establish the benchmark rating of your building in ENERGY STAR’s Portfolio Manager by entering and validating all energy used by the building in the past 12 months. In addition, PPS will enter the appropriate Space Types and populate current Space Attribute values for each Space Type. PPS may request other pertinent information from you to establish an accurate ENERGY STAR rating for current conditions.
Applying for an ENERGY STAR Label
If any of your buildings receive a rating of 75 or higher, PPS will assist you in applying for the ENERGY STAR Label by preparing an Application Letter and a Statement of Energy Performance (SEP). PPS’s in-house licensed Professional Engineer will validate the SEP and seal it with a P.E. stamp and signature. The validation requires the P.E. to verify the benchmarking data entered into the EPA Portfolio Manager (PM) and conduct an on-site visit to verify that certain building standards such as lighting levels, building temperature and humidity and indoor air quality (ventilation) meet nationally-accepted guidelines.
PPS can provide consulting services to support you in obtaining and maintaining ENERGY STAR certification of your building:
• For buildings that receive benchmark ratings under 75, PPS can perform energy audits to identify opportunities to improve building performance and reduce energy use. Many of these improvement opportunities may qualify for PA Act 129 energy rebates and result in very short payback periods.
• As buildings within Portfolio Manager become more efficient over time, additional efficiencies may be needed at your building to maintain or achieve an ENERGY STAR rating of at least 75. We will work with you to identify capital improvements and recommend energy efficient operations and maintenance practices that will help you achieve this important goal.
